FireQA at Fire Australia 2025: Connecting with the Industry in Sydney

FireQA passive fire team in Sydney on the harbour

In May 2025, the FireQA team headed to stunning Sydney for Fire Australia 2025 and it didn’t disappoint.

The event was exceptionally well run and brought together fire protection professionals, fire engineers, suppliers, and industry leaders from right across Australia. For us, it was a valuable opportunity to reconnect with existing clients, meet new teams, and spend time listening to what’s really happening on projects across the country.

Strong Interest from Passive Fire Teams

One of the highlights was the level of interest from passive fire installation and auditing teams. Many were immediately impressed with how FireQA supports passive fire install QA and auditing in a practical, site-friendly way.

What stood out was how quickly teams could see the benefits:

  • An easy to use app onsite to quickly input details and photos

  • Photo and plan-based evidence linked to each penetration

  • Faster reporting with fewer errors

  • Better visibility for engineers, auditors, and clients

These conversations reinforced what we’ve seen for years - passive fire teams want less admin, better traceability, and tools that actually work in real site conditions.

Engineers Loved the Plan Grid Alternative

We also spoke with fire engineers and a wide range of consulting engineers, many of whom were particularly interested in FireQA’s plan grid alternative. Being able to manage and reference penetrations without relying on expensive or overly complex plan mark-up tools really resonated - especially when paired with FireQA’s pricing. They loved the fact you can add a new version of a floor plan, even when it is all marked up.

For many engineers, it was refreshing to see a solution that delivers clarity and control without unnecessary complexity or cost. Go to the page to learn more about Construction Monitoring.

Built by Listening to the Industry

We’ve worked closely with fire protection teams for many years, and events like Fire Australia are where those relationships really deepen. They give us the chance to:

  • Listen to current challenges on live projects

  • Understand what’s changing in compliance and QA expectations

  • Take real-world feedback back into product development

That feedback loop is a big reason FireQA continues to evolve in ways that matter to the people actually doing the work.

The “Guess the Number” Challenge (and a Lot of Surprised Faces)

Our popular “Guess the Number of Fire Penetrations” challenge made a return - and as always, it was a great conversation starter. People are often shocked by just how many fire penetrations exist in a single building, and how clearly FireQA shows that level of detail.

It’s a powerful reminder that passive fire protection is largely invisible, yet absolutely critical. For those outside the firestopping world, it’s a real eye-opener into the scale and importance of this layer of protection. Congratulations to our very happy winner, who walked away with a well-earned bottle of whisky.

A Great Awards Night and Looking Ahead

The awards night capped things off perfectly, with fantastic food in a stunning location and a great atmosphere to celebrate the industry.

We’re already looking forward to Fire Australia 2026 in Melbourne - to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new ones, and keep our focus firmly on improving fire inspections, QA, and compliance through better tools and better processes.

If you’d like to learn more about FireQA or see how we support fire protection and  firestopping teams and fire engineers on real projects, we’d love to chat. You can book a demo here.
